Fluoroelastomers offer excellent fuel and heat resistance, making them ideal for aerospace applications. Rubberized parts made from it maintain flexibility at higher temperatures.
O-rings, seals, gaskets and hoses made from fluoroelastomers can withstand the high temperatures and aggressive chemicals found in modern aerospace systems.
It is also the polymer of choice for many of today's advanced aircraft systems because they have:
(1) good resistance to oils, fuels, lubricants and most inorganic acids
(2) higher resistance to degradation than other non-fluorinated rubbers
(3) Very low permeability to a wide range of substances, including oxygenated jet fuel.
